Oven mitt / glove sewing patterns
Long quilted oven mitt with lining (free digital pattern)
Download the pdf pattern from Suzy Quilts ($0). Read the sewing instructions.
- Long length that covers half the forearm.
- Quilted design.
- Fully lined. The lining is not attached to the top of the oven mitt, so it can be pulled out accidentally. I don’t think this is a big deal, however.
- No bias binding is needed.
- A hanging loop is included for easy storage. It’s made from ribbon.
Long quilted oven mitt for adults, kids, & dolls (free digital pattern)
Download the pdf pattern from Made for Mermaids ($0). Read the sewing instructions.
- 3 sizes: 1 for adults (10″ x 15″), 1 for children (9″ x 11″), and 1 for a doll (6″ x 6″).
- It’s a long length that covers half of the forearm.
- Quilted design.
- The raw edges are finished with pinking shears and left uncovered.
- Bias binding is needed to finish the bottom edge.
- A hanging loop is included for easy storage.
Long oven mitt (free digital pattern)

- It’s a long length. The finished mitt is approximately 8″ x 16″.
- It’s lined, but the raw edges are still visible inside the mitt. These are finished with a zig zag stitch.
- The bottom edge is finished with bias binding.
- There are written instructions on how to create a hanging loop.

- It’s a hand-shaped design.
- It’s a short length that covers the wrist.
- A hanging loop is included for easy storage.
- The raw edges inside the oven mitt aren’t covered. They’re left exposed.
- Bias binding is needed for the bottom edge and hanging loop.
Here’s my hand compared to the pattern. (I measured the 1″ square to make sure I printed it the right size.)

Double oven mitt / glove sewing patterns
Professionally-inspired double oven mitt with quilting (free digital pattern)

- Design and construction method inspired by professionally-made oven mitts.
- Approximate finished size: 36 1/4″ length x 7 1/2″ width (92cm x 19cm).
- Quilted with a diamond-shaped grid.
- Bias binding finish. No hand sewing. It’s robustly sewn with machine stitching and I use fabric glue to make sure I catch the back of the binding.
- Hanging tab.
- Uses heat-resistant batting (Insul-bright) plus cotton batting for a safer oven mitt.
Non-quilted double oven mitt (free digital pattern)

- Double oven glove with 2 hand pockets.
- Non-quilted design.
- Hanging loop.
- Bias binding is used to finish the raw edges. You need 2.5 meters (2.7 yards).
