Writers wanted

Hi I’m Sara, the owner of Threads Monthly 🙂 We teach 100,000+ people how to sew every month.

I’m looking to hire a team of 4 writers to create articles for this website. I’m eager to turn it into a place that helps people in their sewing journey.

I’m looking for experienced sewists with good knowledge to share. You don’t need industry experience. Being a passionate hobbyist is absolutely fine.

If you’d like to get paid for your sewing knowledge and earn a little extra to pay for your hobby, then this is a great opportunity.

I pay $50, $100, or $150 (usd) per article, depending on the length and complexity. Article lengths can range from 500 – 3000 words.

What sort of sewing content will you create?

  • Basic sewing knowledge
  • Fabric info
  • Step-by-step tutorials
  • Occasionally product reviews (where required, products will be sent to you for free)

Here are some fictional examples:

Example articlesPay
“How to make your first quilt”.
Minimum 2500 words. Include step-by-step photos.
“30 free sewing patterns for babies”.
Minimum 2000 words. No photos needed. Just write a few bullet points describing each pattern.
A review of your sewing machine.
Minimum 2000 words. Complete some performance tests and take photos.
“How to sew an invisible ladder stitch (hand sewing basics)”.
Minimum 500 words. Include step-by-step photos.
“What is velour fabric? (different types, uses, care)”.
Minimum 1000 words. No photos needed.

Writers will have a bio where you can mention a social media profile if you choose.

However, some articles may need to be ghost-written. For example, if I make a Youtube video about a topic, I may ask a writer to watch it and turn my opinions and experience into an easy-to-read article. This would then be published under my name.

All writers will be expected to produce 4 articles per month.

It is critical that you don’t miss a publishing date. Writers who consistently miss publishing dates will be let go. For most freelance writers, 4 articles per month is perfect so they have plenty of time to work on it without being overwhelmed.

You can pick up additional articles if you’d like more work.

You understand and agree that all photos, videos, written content, and all other media submitted becomes the exclusive property of this website and you do not have the right to republish that content elsewhere.

This opportunity is available for writers around the world. This is a freelance writing gig and you will be an independent contractor.

Ready? Apply here. I will contact successful candidates on a rolling basis as spots open. Watch out for an email from me (sara@threadsmonthly.com).
